LISTEN
MUSIC
Here are two musical selections from the film. The first, "One Light in a Dark Valley" by Kenneth Burke, was performed by student pianist, Austin Bush and recorded in the recital hall. The second, "Swanee River" was also performed by Bush in the recital hall. The third, "In the Pines," a traditional piece, was performed by student guitarist and vocalist Levi Orr and was recorded in the studio space. This recording was done in a manner to mimic an old recording similar to Ralph Stanley's 1941 recording through digital plug ins.
HEAR
SOUND EFFECTS
Sound effects were an integral component to this film's overall soundscape. Some major points of interest were scenes depicting industrial technologies, war, cityscapes, crises, and writing. Through the integration of these sound effects, the viewer was able to fully understand and comprehend the context of the narration and narrative storyline and transitions. These effects were primarily from a library but edited and layered to create a new sound. I also made my own page flipping effect through recording of different styles of flipping as I couldn't find one that I liked in the library or online.
EXPERIENCE
THE SOUNDTRACK
The soundtrack in its entirety is accessible here. The combination of music, sound effects, and narration created a dimensional and cohesive product that created a multimedia exposition without the use of film.
